| Penerangan CU | The switching services configuration competency unit describes the competency required when configuring and troubleshooting switching service. He or she is the person to carry out configuration and troubleshooting of switching services on site or by remote access (operation centre). The person who is competent in switching services configuration shall be able to prepare switching services configuration, perform switch configuration, perform Virtual Local Area Network (VLAN) configuration, perform switch troubleshooting, carry out switching services configuration check and prepare switching services report. The outcome of this competency is to produce a skilled workforce which is able to understand the working structure of switch and Ethernet technology and able to configure, troubleshoot and assess quality and performance issues within the network in accordance with organisational requirements and standard operating procedures |

| Objektif Pembelajaran | The person who is competent in this Switching and VLAN Configuration and Testing shall be able to prepare, configure and test switching services configuration including VLANs in a Local Area Network (LAN) environment to meet organisational requirements. It builds confidence, critical thinking and troubleshooting skills in a multivendor environment. To do this it is essential that equipment such as servers, switches, routers, etc. come from a variety of manufacturers and each individual has an allocation of time with each. Upon completion of this competency unit, trainees will be able to:- • Prepare switching services configuration • Configure switch • Configure Virtual Local Area Network (VLAN) • Troubleshoot switch • Check switching services configuration |
