| Penerangan CU | Basic Oxygen Furnace (BOF) is also known as oxygen converter process is a method of primary steelmaking in which carbon-rich molten iron is made into steel. The main functions of the Basic Oxygen Furnace (BOF) are to decarburise and remove phosphorus from the hot metal, and to optimize the steel temperature so that any further treatments prior to casting can be performed with minimal reheating or cooling of the steel. Steel Making via Basic Oxygen Furnace (BOF) describes the competency in operating BOF to produce raw molten steel according to Standard Operating Procedure and work instruction. A competent person in this CU shall be able to check BOF operation readiness, prepare steel making material for melting in BOF, perform decarburisation process, perform tapping molten steel into ladle, perform furnace hot repair and record steel melting process activities (heat log). The outcome of this competency is the ability to operate BOF to produce raw molten steel in compliance with SOP, work instructions and regulatory body requirements. |
