| Penerangan CU | Ayurvedic swedanam (sudation) is a treatment procedure in which after Ayurvedic abhyangam treatments, oils/ medicated herbal decoctions are boiled in a specific manner and the whole body or specific parts of the body is exposed to steam with the help of a steam chamber or a connecting pipe for a prescribed period of time. This treatment/ procedure is used as a preparatory treatment for panchakarma or as a treatment by itself. The types of Ayurvedic swedanam (sudation) treatments covers the following procedures:- • sarvanga swedanam • nadi swedanam • avagaham This treatment/ procedure is commonly available in Ayurvedic treatment centres and Ayurvedic hospitals. Ayurvedic swedanam (sudation) treatments can be performed on clients who have gone through Ayurvedic abhyangam treatments or as directed by the Ayurvedic physician, and following guidelines setup by the Malaysia Ministry of Health. The practice of Ayurvedic swedanam (sudation) treatments is permitted to be performed by certified Ayurvedic panchakarma therapists under the direct supervision of an Ayurvedic physician. |

| Objektif Pembelajaran | The person who is competent in Swedanam (Sudation) Treatments shall be able to do treatment/ procedure as a preparatory treatment for panchakarma or as a treatment by itself. Upon completion of this competency unit, trainees will be able to:- 1 Confirm advise and instruction for swedanam (sudation) treatments from the Ayurvedic physician 2 Prepare herbal combinations for swedanam (sudation) treatments 3 Organise swedanam (sudation) treatments facilities in the treatment room 4 Prepare client for swedanam (sudation) treatments 5 Carry out swedanam (sudation) treatment procedure 6 Carry out after care of the client |
