Penerangan CU | This competency in Ayurvedic shiro chikitsa (head area) treatments covers procedures in performing shiro dhara (medicated oil/ medicated butter milk/ medicated milk) and shiro vasti treatment The types of Ayurvedic shiro chikitsa (head area) treatments covers the following procedures:- • Shiro dhara • Shiro vasti Shiro dhara (medicated oil/ medicated butter milk/ medicated milk) is a procedure in which medicated oils/ medicated liquids are poured continuously on to the forehead in a prescribed manner from a dhara pot which is kept above the head level for a prescribed period of time as advised by the Ayurvedic physician. Shiro vasti is a procedure in which medicated oils are pooled on the head with the help of a leather cap for a prescribed period of time as advised by the Ayurvedic physician. This treatment/ procedure is used as a curative and rejuvenative technique in Ayurveda. This treatment/ procedure is commonly available in Ayurvedic treatment centres and Ayurvedic hospitals. Ayurvedic shiro chikitsa treatment can be performed on clients who have gone through Ayurvedic oil application or as directed by the Ayurvedic physician, and following guidelines setup by the Malaysia Ministry of Health. The practice of Ayurvedic shiro chikitsa treatments is permitted to be performed by certified Ayurvedic panchakarma therapists under the direct supervision of an Ayurvedic physician. |

Objektif Pembelajaran | The person who is competent in Shiro Chikitsa (Head Area) Treatments shall be able to perform treatment/ procedure as a curative and rejuvenative technique in Ayurveda. Upon completion of this competency unit, trainees will be able to:- 1. Confirm advise and instruction for shiro chikitsa oil treatments from the Ayurvedic physician 2. Prepare herbal combinations for shiro chikitsa oil treatments 3. Organise shiro chikitsa treatment facilities in the treatment room 4. Prepare client for shiro chikitsa treatment 5. Carry out shiro chikitsa treatment procedure 6. Carry out after care of the client |
