| Penerangan CU | Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP) Counter-pulsation describes the competencies required to provide temporary mechanical circulatory support using the IABP pump to create more favourable balance of myocardial oxygen supply and demand. The person who is competent in this CU should be able to set up intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP), monitor patient’s haemodynamic condition and terminate IABP. The outcome of this CU is competent use of the IABP to provide temporary mechanical circulatory support and haemodynamic benefits to patients during cardiac surgery in compliance with institutional protocol and safety requirements. |

| Objektif Pembelajaran | The learning outcome of this competency unit is trainees will able to operate the inter aortic balloon pump (IABP) to provide temporary mechanical circulatory support and haemodynamic benefits to patients undergoing cardiac surgery in compliance with institutional protocol and safety requirements. Upon completion of this competency unit, trainees will be able to: 1. Set up intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP). 2. Monitor patient’s haemodynamic condition. 3. Terminate intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP). |
