| Penerangan CU | Paediatric Cardiopulmonary Bypass describes the competencies required to operate the heart-lung machine in order to take over the function of the heart and lungs during cardiac surgery for paediatric patients. Paediatric patients have a pump flow rate of between 1.6 to 2.8 L/minute. The person who is competent in this CU should be able to analyse paediatric CPB requirements, perform pre-CPB preparations, perform paediatric CPB, decontaminate heart-lung machine and perform crisis management. The outcome of this CU is competent operation of the heart-lung machine to successfully take over the function of the heart and lungs during cardiac surgery for paediatric patients in compliance with institutional protocol and safety requirements. |

| Objektif Pembelajaran | The learning outcome of this competency unit is trainees enable to operate the heart-lung machine to successfully take over the function of the heart and lungs during cardiac surgery for paediatric patients in compliance with institutional protocol and safety requirements. Upon completion of this competency unit, trainees will be able to: 1. Analyse paediatric cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) requirements. 2. Perform pre-cardiopulmonary bypass preparation. 3. Perform paediatric cardiopulmonary bypass. 4. Decontaminate heart-lung machine 5. Perform crisis management. |
