Penerangan CU | Sewage primary treatment process control describes the competency required to monitor routine inspections of primary treatment assets. He/She has to collect and analyse data on treatment process and infrastructure condition, monitor fault reporting accordingly, carry out basic system adjustments to enhance system performance according to organisational and statutory requirements. The Primary treatment process involves screening of incoming influent, which removes large pieces of rubbish. Next, the sewage enters the primary settling tanks also called sedimentation tanks, where light materials float and skimmed from the top of the tanks’ surface while heavier solids settle, forming primary sludge. Primary sludge is then degritted and pumped to the plant's sludge handling facilities for further processing. The partially treated sewage from the primary settling tanks then flows to the secondary treatment. The person who is competent in this CU shall be able to determine primary treatment operating parameters, carry out verification of work order, monitor primary treatment process activities, troubleshoot causes of abnormality in primary treatment system, carry out system adjustments and corrective actions for primary treatment and update supervisory record. The outcome of this competency is to ensure that the removal of rubbish and solids from raw sewage producing degritted primary sludge and partially treated sewage for the subsequent secondary treatment process is in accordance with the sewage treatment plant (STP) design acceptance criteria and statutory regulations. |

The outcome of this competency is to ensure that the removal of rubbish and solids from raw sewage producing degritted primary sludge and partially treated wastewater for the subsequent secondary treatment process is in accordance with the sewage treatment plant (STP) design acceptance criteria and statutory regulations.
