| Penerangan CU | MetSS is equipment used for observations of atmospheric conditions in order to provide data/measurements to produce weather forecasts and to study the weather and climate. The data/measurements taken include; temperature, barometric pressure, humidity, wind speed, wind direction and precipitation amounts. The fundamental data gathered by this equipment are used for safety as well as climatologically reasons to forecast weather and issue warnings worldwide . Principally, MetSS consists of Sensors (anemometer, wind vane, temperature sensor, barometer, and humidity sensor), Data Logger/ Processing Unit, Display Unit and Power Supply Unit. MetSS installation is fixing or semi-fixing of a complete MetSS or a self-contained MetSS Unit, with its accompanying assemblies, accessories and parts. MetSS installation also includes provision of or connection to services (such as power) or other associated equipment required to make the installed MetSS ready for operations . MetSS can be installed either on Static Platforms (Land-based and Off-shore) and Mobile Platforms. Preventive Maintenance is designed to preserve and restore MetSS reliability by replacing worn components before they actually fail. Preventive Maintenance activities include care and servicing for the purpose of maintaining MetSS Units as well as their associated equipment in satisfactory operating condition by providing for systematic check, detection, and correction of incipient failures either before they occur or before they develop into major defects. Preventive Maintenance include tests, measurements, adjustments, and parts replacement, performed specifically to prevent faults from occurring, partial or complete overhauls, oil changes, lubrication and so on at specified periods. In addition, persons can record equipment deterioration so they know to replace or repair worn parts before they cause system failure . Persons who are competent in this CU shall be able to install a complete MetSSas well as their associated equipment. He or She shall also be able to carry out Preventive Maintenance on MetSS Units as well as their associated equipment in accordance with Regulatory Bodies’ recommendations, OEM’s/Client’s requirements and Contractor’s SOP. The outcomes of this CU is persons that shall be able to provide excellent and quality installation and Preventive Maintenance of MetSS as well as their other associated equipment to ensure client’s satisfaction guaranteed and prompt actions are taken in accordance with Regulatory Bodies’ recommendations, OEM’s/Client’s requirements and Contractor’s SOP. |

| Objektif Pembelajaran | Persons who are competent in this CU shall be able to install a complete MetSS as well as their associated equipment. He or She shall also be able to carry out preventive maintenance on MetSS Units as well as their associated equipment. Upon completion of this CU, trainees will be able to:- · Set up fixed/mobile MetSS installation. · Install fixed/mobile MetSS Cables. · Install fixed/mobile MetSS Power Supply Switches, Breakers and Outlets. · Install fixed/mobile MetSS Units Cabinets/Racks/Brackets. · Install fixed/mobile MetSS Units. · Perform fixed/mobile MetSS Units preventive maintenance. |
