| Penerangan CU | RDF is a device for finding the direction to a radio source. It refers to the measurement of the direction from which a received signal was transmitted. This can refer to radio or other forms of wireless communication. By combining the direction information from two or more suitably spaced receivers (or a single mobile receiver), the source of a transmission may be located in space via triangulation. RDF is used in the navigation of ships and aircraft, to locate emergency transmitters for search and rescue, for tracking wildlife, and to locate illegal or interfering transmitters . Principally, RDF consists of; Antenna, Receiver/ Processing Unit, Display Unit and Power Supply Unit well as their associated equipment. RDF installation is fixing or semi-fixing of a complete RDF or a self-contained RDF Unit, with its accompanying assemblies, accessories and parts. RDF installation also includes provision of or connection to services (such as power) or other associated equipment required to make the installed RDF ready for operations . RDF can be installed either on Static Platforms (Land-based and Off-shore) and Mobile Platforms. Preventive Maintenance is designed to preserve and restore RDF reliability by replacing worn components before they actually fail. Preventive Maintenance activities include care and servicing for the purpose of maintaining RDF Units as well as their associated equipment in satisfactory operating condition by providing for systematic check, detection, and correction of incipient failures either before they occur or before they develop into major defects. Preventive Maintenance include tests, measurements, adjustments, and parts replacement, performed specifically to prevent faults from occurring, partial or complete overhauls, oil changes, lubrication and so on at specified periods. In addition, persons can record equipment deterioration so they know to replace or repair worn parts before they cause system failure . Persons who are competent in this CU shall be able to install a complete RDF as well as their associated equipment. He or She shall also be able to carry out Preventive Maintenance on RDF Units as well as their associated equipment in accordance with Regulatory Bodies’ recommendations, OEM’s/Client’s requirements and Contractor’s SOP. The outcomes of this CU is persons that shall be able to provide excellent and quality installation and Preventive Maintenance of RDF as well as their other associated equipment to ensure client’s satisfaction guaranteed and prompt actions are taken in accordance with Regulatory Bodies’ recommendations, OEM’s/Client’s requirements and Contractor’s SOP. |

| Objektif Pembelajaran | Persons who are competent in this CU shall be able to install a complete RDF as well as their associated equipment. He or She shall also be able to carry out preventive maintenance on RDF Units as well as their associated equipment. Upon completion of this CU, trainees will be able to:- · Set up fixed/mobile RDF installation. · Install fixed/mobile RDF Cables. · Install fixed/mobile RDF Power Supply Switches, Breakers and Outlets. · Install fixed/mobile RDF Units Cabinets/Racks/Brackets. · Install fixed/mobile RDF Units. · Perform fixed/mobile RDF Units preventive maintenance. |
