| Penerangan CU | D/GPS is a Space-based Satellite Navigation System that provides location and time information in all weather conditions, anywhere on or near the Earth where there is an unobstructed line of sight to four or more GPS satellites. The system provides critical capabilities to military, civil and commercial users around the world. It is maintained by the United States government and is freely accessible to anyone with a D/GPS receiver . Principally, D/GPS consists of; D/GPS Antenna, Receiver Unit, Display Unit, Power Supply Unit, DGPS Rectifier Unit, DGPS Beacon Receiver Unit as well as their associated equipment. D/GPS installation is fixing or semi-fixing of a complete D/GPS or a self-contained D/GPS Unit, with its accompanying assemblies, accessories and parts. D/GPS installation also includes provision of or connection to services (such as power) or other associated equipment required to make the installed D/GPS ready for operations . D/GPS can be installed either on Static Platforms (Land-based and Off-shore) and Mobile Platforms. Preventive Maintenance is designed to preserve and restore D/GPS reliability by replacing worn components before they actually fail. Preventive Maintenance activities include care and servicing for the purpose of maintaining D/GPS Units as well as their associated equipment in satisfactory operating condition by providing for systematic check, detection, and correction of incipient failures either before they occur or before they develop into major defects. Preventive Maintenance include tests, measurements, adjustments, and parts replacement, performed specifically to prevent faults from occurring, partial or complete overhauls, oil changes, lubrication and so on at specified periods. In addition, persons can record equipment deterioration so they know to replace or repair worn parts before they cause system failure . Persons who are competent in this CU shall be able to install a complete D/GPS as well as their associated equipment. He or She shall also be able to carry out Preventive Maintenance on D/GPS Units as well as their associated equipment in accordance with Regulatory Bodies’ recommendations, OEM’s/Client’s requirements and Contractor’s SOP. The outcomes of this CU is persons that shall be able to provide excellent and quality installation and Preventive Maintenance of D/GPS as well as their other associated equipment to ensure client’s satisfaction guaranteed and prompt actions are taken in accordance with Regulatory Bodies’ recommendations, OEM’s/Client’s requirements and Contractor’s SOP. |

| Objektif Pembelajaran | Persons who are competent in this CU shall be able to install a complete D/GPS as well as their associated equipment. He or She shall also be able to carry out preventive maintenance on D/GPS Units as well as their associated equipment. Upon completion of this CU, trainees will be able to:- · Set up fixed/mobile D/GPS installation. · Install fixed/mobile D/GPS Cables. · Install fixed/mobile D/GPS Power Supply Switches, Breakers and Outlets. · Install fixed/mobile D/GPS Units Cabinets/Racks/Brackets. · Install fixed/mobile D/GPS Units. · Perform fixed/mobile D/GPS Units preventive maintenance. |
