| Penerangan CU | G/ES is circuitry which connects parts of the electric circuit with the ground, thus defining the electric potential of the conductors relative to the earth's conductive surface. The choice of Grounding/Earthing System can affect the safety and electromagnetic compatibility of the power supply. In particular, it affects the magnitude and distribution of short circuit currents through the system, and the effects it creates on equipment and people in the proximity of the circuit. If a fault within an electrical device connects a live supply conductor to an exposed conductive surface, anyone touching it while electrically connected to the earth will complete a circuit back to the earthed supply conductor and receive an electric shock . Principally, G/ES consists of; Earthing Points/Chambers, Earthing Link Chambers, Copper-jacketed Steel Rods, Copper Bus-Bar, Earthing Conductors and Grounding Cablesas well as their associated equipment. G/ES Components installation is fixing or semi-fixing of a complete G/ES or a self-contained G/ES Components, with its accompanying assemblies, accessories and parts. G/ES Components installation also includes provision of or connection to services (such as power) or other associated equipment required to make the installed G/ES Components ready for operations . G/ES Components are installed Static Platforms (Land-based and Off-shore). Preventive Maintenance is designed to preserve and restore G/ES reliability by replacing worn components before they actually fail. Preventive Maintenance activities include care and servicing for the purpose of maintaining G/ES as well as their associated equipment in satisfactory operating condition by providing for systematic check, detection, and correction of incipient failures either before they occur or before they develop into major defects. Preventive Maintenance include tests, measurements, adjustments, and parts replacement, performed specifically to prevent faults from occurring, partial or complete overhauls, oil changes, lubrication and so on at specified periods. In addition, persons can record equipment deterioration so they know to replace or repair worn parts before they cause system failure . Persons who are competent in this CU shall be able to install a complete G/ES as well as their associated equipment. He or She shall also be able to carry out Preventive Maintenance on G/ES Components as well as their associated equipment in accordance with Regulatory Bodies’ recommendations, OEM’s/Client’s requirements and Contractor’s SOP. The outcomes of this CU is persons that shall be able to provide excellent and quality installation and Preventive Maintenance of G/ES Components as well as their other associated equipment to ensure client’s satisfaction guaranteed and prompt actions are taken in accordance with Regulatory Bodies’ recommendations, OEM’s/Client’s requirements and Contractor’s SOP. |

| Objektif Pembelajaran | Persons who are competent in this CU shall be able to install a complete G/ES as well as their associated equipment. He or She shall also be able to carry out preventive maintenance on G/ES Components as well as their associated equipment. Upon completion of this CU, trainees will be able to:- · Set up G/ES installation. · Install G/ES Components. · Perform G/ES Components preventive maintenance. |
