| Penerangan CU | This competency unit describes the skills, knowledge and attitude requirements in casting operation . The role of casting operation personnel is to provide casting operation support services and other related services in order to achieve section and departmental objectives. The person who is competent in casting operation will be able to operate melting furnace, perform melting & pouring process, perform casting process inspection, perform product finishing process and other related support services in accordance with organisation requirement. An effective production casting operator should be able to prepare melting furnace to meet start-up condition requirements and ready for melting operation, casting materials charged by batches in the right quantity, additive added at the right quantity and ratio, molten metal stirred safely with minimum spillage, and slag removed, material sample taken in a safe manner and test conducted as specified and product properties confirmed. Pouring and casting process carried out in safe manner, ladle movement safely handled, pouring operation carefully performed to produce smooth surface, minimum allowable cavity and no other rejected properties, at an allowable tolerance of joint accuracy. Casted product carefully removed with zero removal based defects. Final product finishing process performed to produce smooth surface with accurate shapes and edges using proper workshop technology tools and techniques. Process waste materials segregated where total recyclable materials weighted accurately and return to production floor and non-recyclable waste was disposed using the normal industrial waste disposal systems. The outcome of this CU is to meet occupational skills standard which incorporate the skills, knowledge and attitude to be delivered systematically. |
