Penerangan CUHelicopter piston maintenance is to maintain aircraft piston system (with limited release approval) in accordance with the requirement of the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), Department of Civil Aviation Malaysia (DCAM) and other regulatory bodies such as European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA).

The Competency Unit (CU) of Helicopter piston maintenance is developed based on Air Transport Association (ATA) System Chapter 100.

The relevant chapters under ATA 100 are the following:

- Chapter 62 (main rotor)
- Chapter 63 (main rotor drive)
- Chapter 64 (tail rotor)
- Chapter 65 (tail rotor drive)
- Chapter 66 (rotor blade & tail pylon folding)

The personnel who are competent in helicopter piston maintenance shall be able to identify, inspect, replace, and test, record and certify piston systems to meet continuous airworthiness standards.

The outcome of this competency is to develop competent manpower in accordance with company’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and job description.
