| Penerangan CU | Adult Cardiopulmonary Bypass describes the competencies required to operate the heart-lung machine in order to take over the function of the heart and lungs during cardiac surgery for adult patients. Adult patients are categorised by body surface area as small adults and adults. Small adults are those whose body surface area is between 1.3 – 1.7 m2. Body surface area is more than 1.7 m2. The person who is competent in this CU should be able to analyse adult CPB requirements, perform pre-CPB preparations, perform adult CPB, decontaminate heart-lung machine and perform crisis management. The outcome of this CU is competent operation of the heart-lung machine to successfully take over the function of the heart and lungs during cardiac surgery for adult patients in compliance with institutional protocol and safety requirements. |

| Objektif Pembelajaran | The learning outcome of this competency unit is trainees enable to operate the heart-lung machine to successfully take over the function of the heart and lungs during cardiac surgery for adult patients in compliance with institutional protocol and safety requirements. Upon completion of this competency unit, trainees will be able to: 1. Analyse adult cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) requirements. 2. Perform pre-cardiopulmonary bypass preparations. 3. Perform adult cardio-pulmonary bypass. 4. Decontaminate heart-lung machine. 5. Perform crisis management. |
