| Penerangan CU | Sludge treatment process optimization is described as an activity to improve the efficiency of moisture removal (increase dry solid content) of the bio-solids. The person who is competent in sludge treatment process optimization shall be able to gather sewage secondary treatment design information and sewage characteristic, verify actual plant capacity for biological treatment, verify preconditioning measures of sewage (if required), verify anaerobic treatment process, verify facultative treatment process, verify anoxic (nitrification and denitrification) treatment process, verify aerobic treatment process and evaluate final effluent compliances. The outcome of this competency is to ensure that the sewage secondary treatment process optimization has been achieved in accordance with best engineering practice whilst meeting the Malaysia Sewage Industrial Guidelines (MSIG) requirements. The beneficial impacts include minimizing operation and maintenance cost, reduce disposal cost, increase profits, improve process output and reducing downtime. |

Upon completion of this competency unit trainees will be able to: 1. Gather sludge treatment design information. 2. Assess actual sludge loading for sludge treatment. 3. Assess sludge thickening process optimization. 4. Assess sludge dewatering process optimization. 5. Coordinate sludge disposal or re-use. 6. Prepare sludge treatment process report. |
