Penerangan CUBlow moulding is a process to produce hollow objects from thermoplastics. The basic blow moulding process includes two fundamental phases, the hot plastics resin in a somewhat tubular shape is created and compressed air is used to expand the parison and press it against mould cavities. The mould is prepared by first modelling the part, extracting die pin & cavity and generating CNC programme. Blow mould tool design is done in a prototype of the bottle using blow mould design. A competent person in this Competency Unit (CU) shall be able to perform product analysis, identify types of mould construction, perform mould flow analysis, perform mould movements simulation, perform drafting and prepare the Design for Manufacture (DFM) report.
The outcome of this competency is to produce 3D design detailed drawings for fabrication of the plastics blow mould. To perform the tasks in this CU, the competent person is required to be literate in mould-making operations and machining fundamentals.

Objektif PembelajaranThe person who is competent in this CU shall be able to develop plastics blow mould design which consists of blow moulding which is a process to produce hollow objects from thermoplastics. The basic blow moulding process includes two fundamental phases, the hot plastic resin in a fairly tubular shape is created and compressed air is used to expand the hot preform and press it against mould cavities. The mould is prepared by first modelling the part, extracting core & cavity and generating CNC programme. Blow mould tool design is done in a prototype of the Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) bottle using blow mould design. Upon completion of this competency units, trainees will be able to:-
1. Perform plastic blow mould products analysis.
2. Perform plastic blow mould design concept.
3. Perform 3D blow mould modelling.
4. Perform plastic blow mould movement simulation.
5. Prepare plastics blow mould engineering drawing.
