| Penerangan CU | Derrick crane lifting operation describes competency in operating a lifting device composed at minimum of one guyed mast, as in a gin pole, which may be articulated over a load by adjusting its guys. Most derricks have at least two components, either a guyed mast or self-supporting tower, and a boom hinged at its base to provide articulation, as in a stiff-leg derrick. A competent person in this CU shall be able to identify derrick crane pre-operation requirements, perform derrick crane routine checks, perform lifting operation and shut down derrick crane operation. The outcome of this competency is to operate a slewing strut-boom crane with its boom pivoted at the base of a mast which is either guyed (guy-derrick) or held by backstays (stiff-legged derrick) and which is capable of luffing under load for licensing purposes. |
