| Penerangan CU | Pichu is the procedure in which warm medicated oil soaked with cotton gauze is placed at the affected area for a prescribed period of duration. Thalam is a procedure in which herbal medicated ingredients are made into a paste form and applied on the crown of the head for a period of time. Thalapodichil is a procedure in which herbal medicated ingredients are made into a paste form and applied on the head covering the complete scalp and is wrapped with steam banana leaf and tied gently with a thread and kept for a prescribed period of time. Kadivasti is a procedure in which the warm medicated oil is pooled with the support of grounded black gram paste at the lower back area (lumbar) for a period of time. Greevavasti is a procedure in which the warm medicated oil is pooled with the support of grounded black gram paste at the back neck area (cervical) for a period of time. Januvasti is a procedure in which the warm medicated oil is pooled with the support of grounded black gram paste at the knee area (patellar) for a period of time. Urovasti is a procedure in which the warm medicated oil is pooled with the support of grounded black gram paste at the chest area for a period of time. Netradhara is a procedure in which medicated herbal decoctions are poured into the eyes in prescribed manner for a prescribed period of time. Tarpanam is a procedure in which the warm medicated ghee is kept within the eyes for a period of time. Karnapuranam is a procedure in which warm medicated oil is poured, filled and kept in the ear for a period of time. Lepanam is a procedure in which the medicated paste is applied and kept at specific part of the body for a period of time. The types of specific treatments covers the following procedures:- • Head area- pichu/ thalam/ thalapudichil • Localised- kadivasti/ greevavasti/ januvasti/ urovasti • Special parts- netradhara/ tarpanam/ karnapuranam/ lepanam This treatment/ procedure is used as a specific treatment or as a treatment by itself This treatment/ procedure is commonly available in Ayurvedic treatment centres and Ayurvedic hospitals. Specific treatments can be performed as directed by the Ayurvedic physician, and following guidelines setup by the Malaysia Ministry of Health. The practice of performing specific treatment is permitted to be performed by certified Ayurvedic panchakarma therapists under the direct supervision of an Ayurvedic physician. |

Upon completion of this competency unit, trainees will be able to:- 1. Confirm advise and instruction for specific area treatment from the Ayurvedic physician 2. Prepare herbal combinations for specific area treatment 3. Organise specific area treatment facilities in the treatment room 4. Prepare client for specific area treatment 5. Carry out specific area treatment procedure of specific panchakarma procedure 6. Carry out after care of the client |
