| Penerangan CU | Secondary and tertiary sewage treatment process maintenance describes the competency required to operate the mechanical and electrical treatment process components. The secondary treatment process components are the aeration tank, secondary clarifier, and secondary settling tank. While the tertiary sewage treatment plant components are the pressure sand filters, activated carbon filters and chlorine contact tanks. Secondary sewage treatment is a biological treatment process to remove dissolved organic matter from sewage by microbial degradation while the tertiary sewage treatment is the final treatment which focuses on the removal of disease-causing organisms from sewage. Treated sewage can be disinfected by adding chlorine or by using ultraviolet light. High levels of chlorine may be harmful to aquatic life in receiving streams. Treatment systems often add a chlorine-neutralizing chemical to the treated sewage before stream discharge. He/She has to apply safe work in the operation and maintenance work which involves routine recording, reporting of anomalies, routine system adjustments and cleaning activities. The person who is competent in this CU shall be able to determine components and equipment of secondary and tertiary sewage treatment processes. carry out site observation of secondary and tertiary sewage treatment processes, inspect mechanical, electrical and fixed instruments conditions of secondary and tertiary treatment process, carry out maintenance of mechanical, electrical equipment and fixed instruments, carry out corrective actions of secondary and tertiary sewage treatment processes and carry out site maintenance of secondary and tertiary sewage treatment processes The outcome of this competency is to ensure that the secondary and tertiary treatment processes are operated according to manufacturer specifications and operational procedure instructions. |
