| Penerangan CU | Sludge treatment process maintenance describes the competency required to operate the mechanical and electrical aspects of treatment process components such as thickening tanks, digesters, sludge storage tanks and dewatering facility. The goals of sludge treatment are to stabilize the sludge and reduce odours, remove some of the water and reduce volume, decompose some of the organic matter and reduce volume, kill disease causing organisms and disinfect the sludge. Following treatment, liquid and cake sludge are usually spread on fields, returning organic matter and nutrients to the soil. He/She has to apply safe work practice in the operation and maintenance work which involves routine recording, reporting of anomalies, routine system adjustments and cleaning activities. The person who is competent in this CU shall be able to determine component and equipment of sludge treatment process, carry out site observation of sludge treatment, inspect mechanical and electrical conditions of sludge treatment process, carry out maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment, carry out corrective actions for sludge treatment process and carry out site maintenance for sludge treatment. The outcome of this competency is to ensure that the sludge treatment process is operated according to manufacturer specifications and operational procedure instructions. |

Safe work practice is applied in the operation and maintenance work which involves routine recording, reporting of anomalies, routine system adjustments and cleaning activities. The outcome of this competency is to ensure that the sludge treatment process is operated according to manufacturer specifications and operational procedure instructions.
