| Penerangan CU | Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) and Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) Combined Welding Process covers the application of Butt Weld 5G and 6G for both Uphill And Downhill on ferrous and non-ferrous metals according to established Welding Procedure Specification (WPS) and work instruction. The combined welding of GTAW and SMAW produces better outcome in terms of quality of the weldment, cost effectiveness and time saving as compared to the other single welding processes. In performing 5G and 6G - Uphill And Downhill welder is required to identify welding requirement, verify base metal specification, prepare welding hand tools equipment & consumable material prior to the welding process itself. Then, the welder performs GTAW process followed by SMAW process to produce structure or product as per WPS. The outcome of this competency is to ensure that welding base metals are joined by means of combined welding processes effectively and in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Welding Procedure Specification (WPS). | Objektif Pembelajaran | The person who is competent in this CU shall be able to GTAW & SMAW combined welding process including 5G and 6G - Uphill and Downhill on carbon steel or stainless steel material. Upon completion of this competency unit, trainees will be able to:- 1. Identify welding requirement 2. Verify base metal specification 3. Prepare welding hand tools, equipment & consumable material 4. Perform GTAW process 5. Perform SMAW process 6. Perform destructive test 7. Carry out work area housekeeping |
